Project Overview

Designing Anxiety Attack! meant doing something genuinely challenging — creating a mental health board game that feels emotionally honest without ever losing its sense of humor or accessibility.

Board Concept & Gameplay Experience

The central board, shaped as a stylized brain, wasn’t just a creative choice; it was a deliberate design decision that gives the entire gameplay experience a narrative purpose, guiding players through themed zones like “Panic Room,” “Retreat,” and “Anxiety Spiral” in a way that feels both intuitive and thematically meaningful. Color gradients, directional iconography, and carefully considered path layouts work together to ensure that even first-time tabletop players can navigate the board confidently without stopping to re-read the rules.

Character Design & Visual Clarity

Character design follows a clean, expressive minimalist style — each illustration communicating emotion and intent at a glance — while iterative prototyping allowed us to strike the right balance between visual richness and clarity, resulting in an engaging mental health awareness game that never overwhelms the very players it was designed to support.

Premium Materials & Component Quality

The foldable game board is constructed from multi-layer laminated chipboard, chosen specifically for its structural integrity, smooth fold performance, and long-term durability across repeated use.

Cards, Tokens & Print Precision

Cards are printed on high-density black-core cardstock with a protective finish that actively resists wear, bending, and color degradation, while precision die-cutting on player pieces and tokens guarantees clean, consistent edges across every unit produced. Offset printing techniques are applied throughout to ensure faithful, high-fidelity reproduction of the game’s intricate gradient illustrations and expressive character artwork.

Packaging, Assembly & Quality Control

Every element of the Anxiety Attack! packaging and component assembly is manufactured with retail distribution, international shipping, and long-term collectibility firmly in mind.
